Thanks for purchasing the Capsule template. I’m excited to see what you have to share with the world.

This page contains some tips and links I think you’ll find useful.

Things you should know before you start.

  • Capsule is built on Squarespace 7.1 Fluid Engine. This will be relevant if you’re researching support content on YouTube.

  • Capsule includes custom CSS. This means:

    • I used code to override some of the default style settings.

    • You will need a Business plan to launch your site.

If you’re brand new to Squarespace.

I recommend starting with this section of their Help Center.

Paige Brunton is also a fantastic Squarespace resource over on YouTube. This walkthrough is especially great if you’re a super beginner.

And BigCatCreative is great for more advanced tutorials.

The first things I would do.

  1. Disable all the pages you don’t plan on using.

  2. Rename the pages you do plan on using, if necessary.

For example, I would rename the page called Portfolio - Simple to Portfolio.

Newsletter.

The demo version of Capsule’s newsletter sign-up has a custom coded newsletter block, which works best if you use Squarespace Email Marketing or Mailchimp.

If you Flodesk, Mailerlite, Constant Contact, Convertkit, or others, I recommend removing the newsletter block and replacing it with a code block.

Here’s how to use a code block to install a newsletter signup. She uses Flodesk, but the process is similar across email marketing platforms.

Mobile Menu.

I’ve added custom CSS to override the font size of the pop-out navigation on mobile. If it looks to small to you, go into the Custom CSS panel.

Scroll to the very bottom. Update or delete this section accordingly.
